About Me

Hello, I’m Ella.

I live in Clevedon, which is about 30 minutes from Bristol. I grew up in Clevedon, and although I moved away from the area whilst at Uni, I am very glad to be back, and love being right by the sea!!

Having not yet experienced childbirth myself I feel that my training, experience and knowledge has allowed me to understand what a woman may be experiencing at this time, and the ways in which I can be of support and reassurance to her.

I feel that I am able to connect with women and to empathise with them. I am here to support women in whatever choices they decide to make during their labour and birth experience, and to achieve a positive experience for them at such a special and important time in their life.

Back in 2004 I started a 3 year midwifery course. My training involved working on delivery Suites, in theatre and out in the community. I also made many antenatal and postnatal visits. I have lots of experience in breastfeeding support with new mums, and attended many antenatal and breastfeeding support groups during this time. I have helped and supported women through many different labour and birth experiences and I successfully delivered 10 healthy babies during my training. After the first year of my training I realised that the course wasn’t right for me as I wanted to focus more on supporting women in whatever way they feel they need me to throughout their journey. I was already aware of Doulas and after looking into it, I felt that everything about this job was perfect for me.

I became a Doula as I loved the idea of being a part of such a special time for a woman and her family, and to be able to support and empower her to achieve everything that she wants from her labour and birth, and to experience her journey into motherhood with her; to me there is no better job to have!

Women should not be afraid to let themselves go with their body’s natural urges during labour. As a Doula I believe women should feel that they can birth their baby successfully, and to take in every unique, positive and life changing moment that labour and birth can bring.

I see my role as something very unique and I am inspired by every family that I meet. In my spare time I attend groups such as, Breastfeeding and Antenatal Support in my local area.

I couldn’t be happier in my role, and am extremely motivated, excited and passionate about my life and career as a Doula.
